At year end, there are times where we need to make adjustments to employees' reportable STP figures that would be messy if you were to process through payroll, or, you've missed processing them before your last pay of the financial year.
if you aren’t going to process something in the payroll but you need it to reflect for STP, overrides are simple.
Good example of this is Reportable FBT or a correction to super which you might have paid manually, termination pays paid after your last pay of the financial year finalisation but you need it reflected in the previous financial year.
Overrides will not appear in your period or date range payroll reports, or employee payslips. They will only appear in your STP Register.
To process an override, go to STP Year End Menu
The top section of STP Year End is reserved for overrides.
Follow these steps:
1. Choose your financial year
2. Search/Choose Employee
When you have chosen your employee then 'View Employee 'X' Details will appear
3. View Employee details
When you click on this it will show you the current STP reporting totals by category. You can do this before your entry and afterwards to check the totals reflect your expectation.
4. Choose Wagetype
These are the Wagetypes that are STP reportable
5. Increase/Decrease the amount
If an employee has been overpaid and has repaid monies, decrease can be used, generally if you make payments outside payroll you want to increase
If you have processed a payment in a future financial year but the payment was made in the previous financial year, you will need to increase in the financial year you want to report in but also have a corresponding entry to decrease in the following financial year so you do not report it twice
This approach can also be used to to increase AND decrease if reallocating from one STP allowance category to another.
6. Enter Override amount
Enter reason for change - year end adjustment, correction for overpayment repayment etc
After you have saved, validate the allocation has happened by clicking 'View Employee details'
